Face Masks

At home face masks are a great way to rejuvenate the skin or simply relax after a long day. There are many different types of masks for each skin type and desired outcome. Masks are a way to create a mini facial at home at a cheaper price and a fraction of the time. Before any formal event such as a pageant, a face mask is a way to prep the skin for makeup and enhance the look of your skin.

Acne Prone/ Oily Skin:

For those women with either acne prone or oily skin, there is a way to combat such obstacles. The best formula for this type of skin is a clay mask that dries after application. Clay masks absorb oil from the skin, minimize pores, and shrink active acne bacteria. A popular clay mask is the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mask, priced at $6.99. You can mix the powder clay with either water or apple cider vinegar, depending on you preference. Your pores will be smaller after applying this mask and creates a matte surface to apply makeup or skin products.

Dry/ Sensitive Skin:

Many women struggle with dry skin or have sensitive skin that reacts easily to certain products. A natural product that can help combat these difficulties is rose water. A mask infused with roses can soothe and tone the skin, preventing redness. A well-known product is the Fresh Rose Face Mask, sold at $62 per container. The rose petals yield nutrients that moisturize the skin and soothe irritation. This mask could be helpful to apply before a pageant in order to soothe the skin and create an even skin tone for the application of makeup.

Dull Skin:

If you simply want to boost the overall appearance of your skin or give it a natural glow, an exfoliating mask is the perfect solution to this problem. By exfoliating, the dead skin cells are removed from the surface, leaving a new layer of skin. A good product for glowing skin is the Olehenriksen Moment of Truth Polishing Sugar Mask. The natural sugar in the mask removes dead skin cells off of the surface of the skin, creating a fresh texture the brightens the skin. Apply this mask before a pageant and you will see the difference it can make when on stage.

There are many face masks that each serve a purpose for different skin types and textures, but finding the one that suits your needs is an easy way to reveal fresh, young skin.

Fall Favorites

I don’t know about you, but for me, October flew by in a flurry of pumpkins and Halloween madness. As we move into Thanksgiving season and cooler weather, it’s time to get cozy, grab a Pumpkin Spice Latte, and if you’re like me — start counting down the days until Christmas. We’ve got a couple seasonal posts coming up, and this is just the first of many. Today, I have a few fall favorites to share with you lovely pageant ladies! Lately I’ve been obsessed with anything to get me in the mood for fall, so I’ve got some Fall goodies as well as beauty products to share with you today.

1. Bath and Body Works Leaves Candle

This one is a classic, but I just had to mention it. I’ve been burning my Leaves candle all month long, and there’s nothing like it to get me into an Autumnal mood. It’s a perfect balance of sweet and spicy, and it smells just like hot, mulled apple cider. If you’re a fan of cinnamon-y smells, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try. It’s perfect for a warm and cozy fall atmosphere, and the scent is strong enough to fill a room without being overpowering. The new mason-jar packaging is adorable and rustic as well and makes for a great decoration.

 2. Homemade Fall Face Mask with Pumpkin

blog6photo6I am a lover of face masks, especially DIY masks that can be easily put together with natural, household ingredients. So this month I’ve been looking around the internet for a face mask with fall ingredients, and I happened upon this lovely recipe. It only requires four ingredients — pumpkin puree, almond oil, honey, and brown sugar. All of these can be found at a local grocery store, so you won’t have to go through too much trouble for this mask. It’s simple to make it’s supposed to soften and brighten the skin, which is great for the cooler weather when skin tends to get dry and you still want your face to be bright and glowing for any pageants that might be coming up or a holiday party. Give this fresh face mask a try and watch it do wonders for your skin!

3. Essie’s Partner In Crime Nail Polish

blog6photo5Essie nail polishes are always a favorite of mine, so I was really excited to see their new lineup of colors. This new fall collection has a lot of incredible shades, but this one is my favorite. It’s a beautiful, deep-toned brown polish. It’s creamy and rich when applied, and it’s super opaque, so all you need is one coat! The consistency and application of this product is great as well, and the shade is absolutely perfect for fall. Because it’s neutral, so it’ll go with just about any outfit you wear, especially ones with warm fall colors.

4. Pumpkin Pie Puppy Chowblog6photo3

Puppy Chow is one of my favorite holiday snacks (that I indulge in all year-round). I like to make it during Christmas time, but I recently found a really great fall-themed puppy chow recipe, so you can just imagine my excitement. I’ve yet to try it out, but as Thanksgiving comes around, this might just be my contribution to the Feast. For those of you who don’t know, puppy chow is, in fact, not dog food, but a scrumptious sweet snack made with rice chex cereal. There are a lot of variations, but this one may become my new favorite. It’s got white chocolate, pumpkin puree, and M&Ms and if you’re a fan of sweet treats, this may be the one for you.

5. Philosophy’s Cinnamon Buns Shower Gel

blog6photo4Philosophy’s bath and shower products are incredibly popular, and with good reason. They all smell delicious and leave your skin feeling soft and pampered. And I always like to switch up my shower gel by the season, because it’s an easy way to get into the fall atmosphere as the smell envelopes the entire bathroom. This shower gel is for those of you who aren’t too keen on the pumpkin scent that’s ever-present around this time of the year. This shower gel gives a rich and thick lather, and it smells warm and sweet and spicy and will definitely give you a huge cinnamon buns craving.
